The Festival of the Light in Osaka Executive Committee (Chairman: Governor Matsui of Osaka Prefecture) will be holding the “Festival of the Light in Osaka 2014” from Monday, December 1, 2014 to Sunday, January 18, 2015. The core programs include the “Osaka Hikari-Renaissance” and the “Mido-suji Illumination,” which will be carried out together with the area programs held in central Osaka City. In addition, we are pleased to announce the finalized list of participating organizations for joint promotion of this festival.
Also, as of April 1, 2014, we have established the Festival of the Light in Osaka Association, which will be responsible for partial administration of promoting the Festival of the Light programs.Aiming for the symbolic year 2015, in which many milestones such as the 400th anniversary of the Siege of Osaka will be commemorated, and by drawing on the success of the Fête des Lumières of Lyon, France, Osaka will be stepping up its efforts to promote this project into one that will symbolize Osaka as the “Water and Light Capital” of Japan as well as one that will unite the public and private sectors to enhance Osaka’s brand as a metropolis.
