The annual snow festival has opened in the northern Japanese city of Sapporo (さっぽろ雪まつり), featuring more than 200 snow and ice sculptures.The Sapporo Snow Festival was declared open on Friday at Odori Park and 2 other sites in the capital city of Hokkaido.
代表日本北海道冬季特色的“札幌冰雪節” 在大通公園及薄野等札幌市內的三個會場開幕。今年展出二百多座雪雕和冰雕，預料吸引超過二百萬人到場參觀。 日本人氣動畫《進擊的巨人》內的角色製成的大雪雕。「巨人」變「雪人」，拍照都隨和點。整個雪祭有大約250座冰雕及雪雕!
The huge sculptures in the park include one of the new bullet trains that will start running in Hokkaido next month. Another one is based on a popular cartoon, "Attack on Titan". The festival also has a 17-meter-tall recreation of the facade of St. Paul's Ruins in Macau, a UNESCO world heritage structure. Some of the statues were made by local residents.
