Nation's tallest building planned near Tokyo Station

Mitsubishi Estate Co. announced on Monday it will build a 390-meter tall, 61-story skyscraper near JR Tokyo Station.The new structure will be the tallest building in Japan, surpassing Osaka's Abeno Harukas, which is currently the nation's tallest skyscraper complex at 300 meters.

The new building planned by Mitsubishi Estate would be about the 20th tallest in the world today. Mitsui Fudosan Co. is planning to open a 245-meter-high building in fiscal 2021 and Tokyo Tatemono Co. is planning to open a 250-meter-high building in 2023 in a redevelopment project on the Yaesu side of Tokyo Station.
