The Japanese government will fully support a plan to open a Universal Studios Japan theme park in Okinawa Prefecture, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Wednesday.

The top government spokesman made the remark during a meeting with Glenn Gumpel, USJ Co. chief executive, at the prime minister's office in Tokyo. Gumpel told Suga that his company will make all-out efforts for opening a USJ park if it is able to obtain a government support for promoting the park among tourists in the southernmost prefecture.
